Moving...

I don't suggest it.

In case anyone is wondering why we haven't returned phone calls or emails... We sold the house a week and a half ago, had a house we were going to buy, but upon inspection we decided it was too much work to take on. Thus, we're now homeless and have two weeks to pack up, move out and find somewhere to live!

No nervous breakdowns yet, but I'm sure we're going down that path.

Happy Birthday to Nick!

Nick turned two on the 14th. We kept it pretty low key as mom is away this week so we're all a bit sad about that. Saturday or Sunday will be party day as we'll all be together again!
Here are a couple of pictures of him with his Lego-man headlamp. He was SO jazzed about this when he opened it. Even going to bed he wanted to wear it and was lying there in the dark lighting up the bunk bed... eventually he let me turn it off and take it off, but he wanted to have it on his pillow beside him. Tonight he wanted it tucked in under a sock on his side table.

light, light shining bright

*that's a pancake, not a giant piece of ham on his plate. However, with mom being away this week we did eat a lot of brown food.

Tequila, the miracle drug

Before tequila...

after tequila***...

Ann-Marie is in Prince George this week at school so I'm pulling double duty with the dudes. On top of some single parenting, I'm trying to close a deal on our house, and close a deal on another house we want to buy, mortgages, house inspections, negotiations... It's the craziest week of my life!!

***I should clarify that it was I who consumed the tequila, not them.

Scenery

North face of Bonney, Ann-Marie did a traverse last weekend that goes behind this beauty.

Swanzy and Bonney and Parsons in the distance. She skied off the shoulder of Parsons on the traverse. At the bottom of this photo you can see the army of skiers about to pound the track we just put in to the Dome. Count them. There's 14.

Swanzy and another tiny group of skiers. What a beauty, many ambitious ski lines off here. The beginning of the Bonney traverse ascends the south slopes of this peak.

Mt Smart

Every good day starts with a wade across a creek

Heading towards the highest col on Smart, the summit is the high point, right of center.

I had my old lady legs on and couldn't break trail without cramping and wailing like a cat in heat. So of course Travis, the manimal, took the lead most of the day.

Almost there. It's STEEP here, well over 45deg, maybe more, I don't know.

Looong way down! At the far end of the slide path in the center of the picture were trees piled up in the forest and branches broken 50' above the ground. That's almost 3km from where we are! Must have been a huge avalanche! It was pretty white when we started down, which made the steep skiing pretty exciting!

Fine fellows

I don't know what it is about these pictures of Nick that make me think he's just a little frenchman.

Mais oui, le jus de pamplemous!

Awww...

Awwwww....

AAagh!!

These guys have been such stars these days, especially Tobin. I'm not sure what the change is, perhaps because he can now make it through the day without requiring a nap. But he's suddenly turned into this engaging, happy outgoing little man. He has some funny things to say as well, very observant things. Like "you like awesome things, dad." (this, of course, refers to me pointing out monster trucks and huge airplanes or diggers or anything destructive or powerful.)

I got to go flying around in my helicopter, sightseeing on Kinbasket lake this past week as well. I guess it was work, but it was pretty fun. We were looking for moose....

But we saw these instead:

It's not often you get such a good view of six fat, blood covered wolves lounging around in the middle of the ice. It was an amazing, stunning sight. Very lucky to see these wild, beautiful animals.

However, much of the time was spent doing this:
